I feel passionate about this deal, and the main reasons I'm willing to give away the second album as a download after you buy the first physical CD is:
1. It doesn't cost me anything extra for the downloadable album and might even motivate you to buy the 1st one.
2. You might get used to the style on the second CD, and if I record any more like it
you're more likely to buy it.
3. If your friends like it and you don't let them burn a free copy, then they might consider buying it.
4. Currently I'm unemployed and people like you might consider helping me out because
I not only have something new sounding, but you'll feel good about helping me out.
5. I think all music is overpriced and that discourages people from trying new stuff.
The music business doesn't encourage people to expand their musical tastes without significant spending. So getting used to new sounds and styles is hard to do by just listening to 30 second clips or downloading just one song into an ipod. So how is a new artist supposed to get enough music to you on a trial basis to help you see if you'll develop a taste for something new? The answer is to give enough of the music away FREE, so that you can really listen to the whole album without risking any money. Thankfully with today's digital technology it's possible to do just that.
Most of the time with a "Buy One Get One Free," the second FREE item has to be the same exact product. I believe what I'm proposing here is unprecedented, since you can get two totally different types of music for the price of one.
Have you ever noticed it takes a few listens in order to see if you like something that your ear isn't used to hearing? I believe that if I encourage you to try something different for free, your tastes just might start to expand.
I remember my first CD by a band called Devo back in the eighties. It was so intense and grated on my nerves so much that it took a week to learn enough of the songs to enjoy it. If nobody had ever loaned me those albums, I’d never have learned to enjoy bands like Green Day years later?”
